The history of the lamp In the past, only a candle was used to see something. Then there was already an oil lamp. Later, a filament light bulb was invented by an Englishman named Joseph Swan. Not much later Thomas Edison came up with a lamp that could be used on a large scale. That is why he was seen as the inventor of the lamp. The first manufacturer of lamps Philips became it is the first company to actually produce lamps, but the energy-saving lamp was very large and makes a buzzing noise. And actually the lamp was still very expensive. So not very marketable. But not much later the LED lamp was invented.
